Therabeautie’s Essential Treatment Advice

Before care – Aftercare – Homecare

At the start of the appointment, we will have a consultation. This will help determine which treatment is suitable for you & maximize treatment results. Your health & safety is regarded, along with medications, medical conditions or disorders. As this may require the treatment to be modified or refused. Please inform me, or if you are in doubt, please obtain a practitioner’s note to consent to having treatment.  Age restrictions of anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with written consent prior to performing any treatment.  Advanced treatments for anyone under the age of 18 will not be performed.

General Skin Treatments (especially Facials & Waxing)

24 hours before and after treatment:  Please refrain from any other skin procedures (e.g. stimulant, abrasive, resurfacing skin treatments: laser, waxing, exfoliation, scrubbing, rubbing, squeezing, picking at your skin, steam, heat, direct sunlight, sunbathing). 2 weeks before treatment:  No sunburnt skin & not using medically prescribed exfoliating products such as Retin-A. 6 months before treatment:  No isotretinoin (Accutane)

Advanced & Electrical Skin Treatments

24 hours – 3 months prior to treatment:  A patch test is required. 24 hours after treatment: Avoid touching the area (always wash your hands before applying products to your skin). Do not apply make-up or perfumed products (for 8 hours). Apply healing products (such as a professional subscription or aloe vera gel at night). Use a moisturiser (with a sunblock factor of 30+ during the day). Avoid over-stimulating the area (no heat treatments, exercise, hot showers, swimming, facial treatments). Home care:  In the assistance of detoxification: each day drink at least 2 litres of water, cleanse, tone & moisturise, exfoliate once per week, use SPF daily (30+) & limit UV/sun exposure. For added health benefits, involve a daily routine of at least 30 mins of exercise, gradually increasing over time to 60min, eat 5 portions of fruit & veg, reduce intake of salt, sugar, saturated fat, & if applicable cut down on toxins such as alcohol & cigarettes. Two weeks after treatment: Avoid UV/sunbathing & skin treatments.

Massage Treatments

24 hours after treatment: Drink an adequate amount of water as a requirement for assisting in the detoxification of your body & keeping hydrated.  Avoid over-stimulating the area (no heat treatments, exercise, hot showers, swimming, facial treatments). Pregnancy massage: requires a General Practitioner or Midwife’s consent prior to treatment. The treatment is not carried out during the first trimester (12 weeks). No massages on the abdomen, pressure points on both sides of the ankles, or the webbing between the thumb & index finger.

Eyelash Extensions & Eyebrow Treatments

24 hours – 3 months prior to treatment:  A patch test is required. Within 24 hours after treatment: Prevent getting your treatment wet. Home Care: Maintain the integrity of the health & quality of your natural eyelashes by avoiding e.g. high temperatures/humidities, sweat, picking, rubbing, fiddling, and using oily lotions. Maintenance: Keep your eyes clean regularly with running water. If you are wearing makeup then clean around your lashes. No mascara should be present on your lashes when you arrive for your infill appointment. Arriving from another salon?  An Eyelash Extension treatment is an art.  The treatment outcome will be based on another Lash stylist’s work – which means you might require a removal treatment and then start again with a new set, which may have to be part booked at another date/ time.

Nails and Manicures/Pedicures

Ensure you have clean skin and nails and check that there are no skin disorders/diseases present. An adequate nail length is necessary for a neat finish. Painted nails require you to bring open-toe shoes, this is to allow for adequate nail varnish drying time. After treatment: Use pumice stones for dry skin and apply lotions to your skin to keep your nails strong and your skin nourished.

Appointment Changes and Late Comings

Please, give at least 48 hours notice for any changes to your booking as the appointment slot must be fulfilled, and you will be charged 100% of the cost of treatment if you cancel regardless of the reason, or prevented from booking in the future. If you arrive late then your treatment will be modified and the time that you missed cannot be redeemed unless you pay for another treatment. However, if my diary runs late then I will make up your time.
